Glaceon - Happy Birthday by XRosewaterX Glaceon - Happy Birthday by XRosewaterX
THIS HAS OVER 1,000 FAVOURITES???  WOW, THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE SUPPORT, I APPRECIATE IT! :heart::heart::heart:

PLUS AFTER LOOKING AT THIS, I FEEL LIKE I WANT TO EDIT IT A LITTLE BIT MORE, MOSTLY WITH THE SKIN TEXTURES AND STUFF SINCE NOW I SEE A LOT MORE WRONG WITH THIS XD

Yay I finished XD At least to some extent anyway and for now unless there's something that I see that I have to finish :yum:

This is supposed to be how I would imagine one of my favourite pokemon glaceon as an anime human. :) I hope that it turned out ok ^^; I kinda liked how it turned out. I painted this as a birthday gift for my younger sister, Megan (one of my siblings who live with my grandparents). Her birthday is coming up on December 12th, which happens to be 3 days after mine. :) Happy birthday, Megan. ^^ :heart:

I couldn't think of a background for it so I decided to make it a transparent background. I'm still working on trying to paint in an anime style and I hope that this has shown some progress ^^;

Glaceon (c) to the Pokemon Company and Nintendo and to all those who created it.
Drawn and painted in Adobe Photoshop CS2 by me, :iconxrosewaterx:

Ok SO I decided that I wanted to give you a critique! Now I'm obviously not the model of propriety when it comes to anime, so my critique isn't gonna be THAT great, but I hope it helps! First off, I LOVE the detail you put into her hair, you can really tell that you put extra effort shading and highlighting! I really don't see many mistakes, other than her right eye looks a little too far down on her face, and that you have highlights on the light blue of her shirt, but not the dark blue parts. I also think her torso may be a tad thin compare to the size of her head. (but these are just minor things anyways). For vision I gave you four stars because I really like how you interpreted your favorite Pokemon, you can get sort of an icy feel from looking at her! Originality is low because, well it's based off of a Pokemon and not your own original character lol. BAM 5 stars because I really like how you can see the brush strokes on her skin and headphones (looks awesome) and the minute details in her hair really make it awesome, as well as the pattern on her shirt! And for the impact, you can tell by her face that she's a badass, and she kinda has the cool "I don't give a f*ck" look, which i think fits well with ice types :D ANYWAYS overall I really love this piece and I hope you find this critique helpful!

Oki doki~ I absolutely love this and your work and so I am gonna stop being lazy for a bit and actually write a critique. I know I probably shouldn't though, because there is no way whatsoever I could do any better at the stage I'm at, but I'll give it a shot.

First of all, I'll start out with the good aspects of this. The color scheme is beautiful, and for the most part, the shading is wonderful. I love how you did that bandana (I think that's what it is anyway). The pose is cool, and the cat ears coming out of the headphones is a super cute and creative touch. It's really a striking piece, and I can't express that enough.

Now I'll move on to things I think you could improve on. The hair is absolutely astonishing, however the bits of hair falling over the shoulders looks a bit stiff. It's also more finely detailed than the bangs and hair around the head, which makes it look a tad bit inconsistent. The head looks a little pointed and the chin's (my left) left side more of a subtle slope and the right side more of an apparent one, making it appear kind of awkward. The lineart is a little wobbly in some places, and not visible at all in others. I suggest using stability control if the program you use has that option, however be careful about this because it wont always get the lines right where you want them. Play around with it until you find something you really feel comfortable using. Next, the right arm looks a bit small compared to the left, and the left one is at a perfect size. Make the right one bigger and it will look more natural and relaxed. The same issue with the eyes, too. The body looks a little bit too small for the head, and a little bit thin too. Now onto shading, most of it is (by my definition) perfect~ But on the skin, you used a technique that makes it look a little like fur. It's unnatural for the texture of skin. And for the lighting on the dress, it looks like you only added lighting to the lighter squares of the dress. Last but not least, the pokeball. You used a beautiful soft-shade approach on the girl, and it looks very inviting and calm, however for the pokeball, the shading isn't so smooth and almost looks like there are "corners" on it.

Well I hope I didn't insult you or anything. This is my first real time writing a critique and I hope I did a decent job of it >.<''

Looking at your update comment, I don't think the skin looks too bad. You could soften up the shading borders with a blend tool, but I think it looks fine overall, if a little dark. It's your anime anatomy that needs some addressing, if you ever decide to revisit this. Her head and left forearm look a bit off, but the shading is gorgeous.

I think something is a little bit off. I can't tell where the light is coming from. either the right or the top

Light sources have always perplexed me. XD In the end I just like shading that's done well enough to give depth.

Yeah, the anatomy was another thing that I noticed that I need to work on with this as well :(  I did this back in 2012 for my little sister but after looking at it again, I wanna fix it up since a lot of people still liked it :)  And thank you, the shading was the hardest part ^^;

Well if you need help on the anatomy end of things, I work mostly in anime/manga style art, so feel free to come big me when you get around to fixing it up. I think shading it the hardest part of most art--I'm just starting to get to where I can do basic shading digitally

Thank you :)  I think I want to try and edit this a little bit more, as the skin textures and a few other things were... off and bothering me lol XD
